Mental Health Peer Training Team at Imroc

Peer Support Mental Health Training Team. Imroc has been part of the peer training landscape since 2009, but this team took shape when Imroc began undertaking a significant Health Education England/NHS England-funded training programme in 2021. The team aims to exemplify the values of peer support throughout their work and offer safe and accessible training that gives peer support workers the best possible launchpad for their careers.

Our commitment is to deliver values-led, co-produced training that empowers peer support workers and supports organisations in fostering healthy environments for peer support.

The primary aim of Imroc’s peer support training is to improve the lives of individuals who require support from services and systems by expanding access to meaningful and effective peer support. The training ensures that peer support is understood as a distinct and complementary contribution, supports peer support workers with supervision, and helps organisations build recovery-focused, trauma-responsive, and equitable systems.

Our continuous adaptation ensures high-quality, relevant training for all participants.

Impact – in the last 3 years

  • Peer Supervisors Trained:  618 across NHS Trusts, voluntary/community organisations, and internationally.

Community of Practice:

Within the team we deliver a monthly Community of Practice. This has evolved and developed since 2022 and provides a space for a range of voices and perspectives to share, inspire and educate across the team and organisation to improve our practice and expand our knowledge. We have also been able to provide this model for other organisations to provide a space to reflect and grow for peer support workers.
